About the Society
Oscar J. Keep
Keeps in the Erie, Pennsylvania, area have been reuniting since 1902. The Keep Family Society was established at the reunion of Pennsylvania Keeps on August 19, 1984. Oscar J. Keep of Florida was elected its first president. Oscar was the major force behind the idea of beginning a family society that would include all the Keeps who could be found! He developed the first plans for our organization. Oscar personally financed the reprinting of John Keep of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, published in 1899 by Frank E. Best. With new generations of Keeps in possession of this prized book, new interest in family matters was generated. Plans were made to update the family genealogy. There were 151 charter members of the Society. Anyone who paid the dues of $10 by August 31, 1985, was eligible for charter membership.
